I have been using topical minox for 3 months and im already happy with my results. Will the hair fall off if i stop.? Read a few times here that i have to use it for a year to become permanent

no, but it's like $5 of minox per year, so who cares

Are you able to first use it 2x per day then after you're content with density, just apply it once per day, or even only 5x per week for maintencance

its permanent

low dht concentration

only scalp isnt permanent cause high dht concentration

You have to use it long enough for it to be “permanent” otherwise you’re wasting your time

After a year of using it yes it’s permanent

this is top notch broscience right here.

1. minoxidil doesn’t work like that

minoxidil is a vasodilator that promotes blood flow to hair follicles, stimulating growth in hair that’s already in a dormant phase. the catch is that it needs continued use to maintain the results. when you stop applying it, the follicles that depended on that extra stimulation go back to their original lazy state. this applies to eyebrows, scalp, or anywhere else you slap that stuff on. there’s no special “permanence pass” for eyebrow hairs.

2. “low dht concentration” = meaningless drivel

low dht concentration in your eyebrows doesn't magically makes the hair permanent. that is so wrong. eyebrow hair growth isn’t regulated by dht in the same way scalp hair is. sure, dht primarily impacts terminal hair on the scalp, but that doesn’t mean minoxidil-induced eyebrow growth suddenly defies biology and becomes “permanent.” dht levels don’t dictate how long artificially stimulated hair growth will last. it’s all about follicle dependence on minoxidil.

3. the same rules apply everywhere

minoxidil affects follicles the same way regardless of location. the principle doesn’t change because the hair happens to be above your eyes instead of on your head. when you stop using minoxidil, any new growth reverts because the follicles are no longer getting their artificial boost. whether it’s eyebrows, beard, or scalp, the mechanism stays consistent.

4. science vs. pseudo-bro logic

if your theory were true, dermatologists and actual scientists would be shouting it from the rooftops. instead, every legit source says the same thing: stop using minoxidil, and the results fade over time. full stop. no exceptions for “low dht concentration zones” because that’s not how follicle biology works.

Makes sense. So there would be a way of just maintaining the results through less frequent application then?

less frequent application

doesn’t work. minoxidil isn’t cumulative. it’s a constant boost.

skip too much, and the follicles revert to baseline. if u want to keep the gains, you'd have to commit to regular use, or say goodbye to that growth. biology doesn’t do shortcuts.

So you basically have to keep growing thicker thicker hair then? Or just completely lose the hair? If you continue to apply the minoxidil will your hair not continue to get thicker or will it plateau?

with minoxidil, hair growth can improve over time but only to the limits of your follicles. it won’t keep getting endlessly thicker but plateau once your follicles reach their max potential. stop using it, and you’ll lose the gains. keep applying, and you maintain what you’ve achieved, no magic beyond that.

Its annoying to apply. But where does it cost 5$ per year? I pay like 15$ per month
i'm talking about eyebrows. it's like 1/8 teaspoon of foam per day. takes 5 seconds to apply

i agree but on the face is different from the scalp. After using it for a prolonged period you have “terminal hairs” (I’m referring to the face not scalp) would castor oil be better?

you are a complete retard the results of minoxidil do stay permament atleast partially as long as you achieve terminal follicles through long use

you cant do that on scalp because the follicle is permamently damaged with DHT

Another retard who doesn't know how minox works. Fucking idiot.

u think minoxidil works through stimulating le bludflow

Are you actually retarded? Do you seriously think that blood flow doesn’t matter when it comes to minoxidil? Are we living in some alternate universe where oxygen and nutrients have no effect on cell function? Minoxidil DOES work by increasing blood flow to the scalp or wherever you apply it, which enhances the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to hair follicles. That’s LITERALLY what helps hair grow out of the dormant phase. When a retard like you tries to challenge the actual mechanism of action, it’s either because you:

1. Haven’t read the science
or
2. You’re too caught up in your own pseudo-science bubble.

terminal follicles

Doesn't appear out of thin air, dumbfuck.

Minoxidil can stimulate hair growth and encourage the hair to go from a thin, soft regrowth (vellus) to thicker, stronger hairs (terminal). But that process is reliant on CONTINUED USE.
The longer you use it, the more hair follicles may respond by growing thicker hair. Once you stop, it's game over. The follicles that were not naturally inclined to grow hair are going to shut down again. This myth of "muh terminal follicles stick around permanently!" is straight-up fucking ignorant. Just because something looks “terminal” doesn’t mean it has magically defied the laws of biology.

And that’s not even touching the nonsense about scalp follicles being:
permamently damaged with scar tissue
That’s a whole new level of out-of-touch.

clueless cretin

You don’t understand the science or have the facts straight, dumbfuck. Read up on how minoxidil works.

It's funny how people who lack actual knowledge think their misconceptions are the gospel truth. Absolute retards.

If you want to argue that minoxidil might eventually result in more terminal-like hairs with prolonged use, that’s SOMEWHAT reasonable. But it’s not permanent. Not even close. If you stop using it, you’re gonna shed the hair that grew under its influence. Simple as that. There’s no magical “scar tissue” conspiracy that somehow keeps those hairs stuck around. Hair growth has a cycle, and minoxidil only affects it while you’re actively using it. No use? No results. It's as straightforward as that. If you can't understand that, believe in fairy tales.

Just because a large number of people believe something doesn't make it automatically true.

A "popular anecdote" is STILL an anecdote. Without proper scientific control and evidence, it's just a bunch of people telling each other a story

Thousands of people used to believe the earth was flat, too, dumbfuck.

Popularity doesn't equal truth.

Right, because actual research and evidence-backed studies are clearly the product of some conspiracy.

Nigga it's clear you're retarded. Good luck with your unverified beliefs.

“sponsored scholars,” They STILL have to present evidence to back up their claims, and guess what’s actually funded by research? Science, not random retards with zero credentials trying to sell you snake oil.

love how you’ve gone from ‘science is biased’ to ‘show me the info’, expected classic flip-flop from a retard.

My information is from actual studies and research that’s been peer-reviewed.

- Yip, L., et al. (2012): Published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, a highly respected journal in the field of dermatology.
- Ponce-Oliveira, R.M., et al. (2016): Published in the International Journal of Trichology, a journal dedicated to hair science and research.
- Messenger, A.G., et al. (2011): Published in the British Journal of Dermatology, another well-regarded journal in the field.

They all come to the same conclusion: the effects are temporary and require continuous use to maintain them.

Its not about bloodflow

Minoxidil has a other powerfull growth mechanism that take place

Where are you getting minox for $5?
I usually scrounge around on ebay or wherever until I find a deal. Last time I bought it on Mercari. 1 can would last you more than a year if you're just using it on eyebrows.

Which, by the way, is the best way to buy anything. Just bought a nearly new $1400 vacuum for $170.
