Are people attracted by their opposites ?

I often see people who are polar opposites in looks in relationships, not in the sense that one is very gl and the other ugly but in the sense that I see that thicc/milf archetype type women more often than not preffer and end up with lean/skinny relatively young guys (cutecels/prettyboys) and I see women that this forum would regard as HQNP (at least in looks) to often go after males in that fit in the dom, ogre and thug archetypes.
Going after it logically, shouldn't it be the opposite ? Prettyboys going after dainty, skinny HQNP looking girls and doms and ogres going after milfs and thick bitches.
Curious to hear your thoughts on this.

Yeah, of course everyone has their prefferance. I mainly wrote this post because I see it often and it almost goes against looksmaxxing logic where you have prettyboys with HQNPs and doms with high E girls. Even I lived through it, in my last relationship I was 105kg at like 20% bodyfat bearmode maxxed and the girl I was with was like 155-158cm tall and 50kgs wet.

right. i rarely see the opposites attract thing outside, it's mainly those who look alike or are alike that are with each other. this goes for most couples i've seen, excluding interracial couples which make up like 10-15% of all relationships i've seen outside.
