Apparently, there’s three genotypes that predict lactase persistence. There’s TT (lactose tolerant), CT (lactose tolerant) and CC (lactose intolerant). TT only occurs in Caucasians/Europeans and a few African Americans (because they have up 10-20% European blood on average, so it makes sense that some might inherit the same genotype). Hispanic and Asians don’t have the TT genotype at all, though a minority has CT (lactose tolerant) and most have CC (lactose intolerant). Most African Americans have the CC genotype (lactose intolerant) as well. I just checked it for my family members, 40% has the TT genotype, whereas 60% has the CT genotype. I suspect some my family members have been LARPing as South Asian and we’re really just tanned Dutch people after all.
