Are wars actually entirely artificial?

When you think about it 90% of wars are entirely pointless and only ever seem to benefit the upper class. Why do ordinary people actually need more territory or resources? Historically almost all wars were simply fought because of disputes between the ruling classes of different states. Ordinary people aren't even that violent.

This is partially why I believe that there is some truth to conspiracy theories, I have never met a single person who thinks that wars are a good thing but history is full of wars. The elite has everything to gain from wars.
