Are we actually improving or just coping?

How many people here are actually improving vs just finding new ways to cope? You can fix your skin, get a better haircut, go gym but at what point does it stop being “self-improvement” and start being obsession?

Not saying looks don’t matter, they obviously do. But I’m starting to think there’s a point where overanalysis just messes with your head more than it helps.
Is the goal to become objectively better, or just less insecure?

It's obsession from the start. No comfort-seeking human being wakes up and wants to improve for no reason
