At first it was the aryans and Baltic Slavs. They were the proto indo Europeans. Out of them came the germanics to the west and iranians to the east. Then the celts split off from them . The italics were mostly non indo European but a fragment of their language was left and manipulated by the Etruscan influence. Probably Celtic.
