Despite some genetic drift, bottlenecks and endogamy, Ashkenazim are not as differentiated from most Europeans as Basques and ESPECIALLY not Sardinians. Both have reduced Steppe, whilst Sardinians have an inflated level of Anatolian Farmer ancestry. Combine that with some founder effects and notable genetic drift means that both populations are more distant from most Europeans than Ashkenazim are.

I'm not even gonna get into how pigmented Sardinians are on average.
