ive taken 1 pill of ashwaghanda everyday for a year im 19

around same age, have been on for a few weeks. Both are just supplements lol nothing to be worried about. Melatonin can make you drowsy the next day if you take too much tho

any side effect? and was it worth it?
i am rarely ever stressed by my situation. my stress is mostly self induced if that makes sense. might just be placebo though

Melatonin is a light aromatase inhibitor, meaning it blocks estrogen. If you are heightmaxxing then this is very important and can delay growth plate closure.

A study found that it only acts as an AI for about 45 mins after absorption, but if you take it for a long time im sure it adds up.

It suppresses estrogen... ik estrogen is necessary for brain development but there are teens on this site literally taking aromasin and other ais for height growth. Melatonin is nowhere near that extreme

Melatonin is known to inhibit pubertal onset in normal children. At pubertal time, its level shows sharp decline (75% of its level). It is believed that this decline allows the surge of the hypothalamic GnRH and the start of cascade of pubertal changes. This means that melatonin acts as a gonadostat allowing puberty to occur in its proper time. There are reports of cases that showed precocious puberty with destructive pineal gland tumors causing low or absent melatonin, and on the contrary, cases of failed puberty owing to functioning pineal gland tumors secreting excess melatonin[7].

someone know wtf this means?

Probably pretty bad to take when still in puberty, remember hearing Hubermann say the testes of rats who were given a generous dose of it shrunk massively

Children naturally have much higher melatonin levels than adults, these levels drop with puberty- and need to drop for you to get a complete and natural pubertal development

Causes a later puberty if taken as a kid. Kinda expected since its anti estrogenic. (This is why girls start growing earlier, and why they end up shorter).

The part about tumors doesnt refer to melatonin supplementation, its about endogenous serum melatonin being lowered

interesting, but i do think that melatonin supplementation in humans at a dose lower than 10 mgs should be safe. Rat studies are often overdosed to get clear results. I will have to take a closer look at that study tho

Yeah true, but 1mm^3 of ball volume could still be the difference between Margot Robbie laughing at your puny balls or not and it's a risk I'm not willing to take

"Melatonin and prolactin are induced by stress, and darkness is a stress because it impairs mitochondrial energy production."

In our lab at the University of Oregon, our hamsters would try to hibernate, even though they were in temperature-controlled laboratories with regular cycles of artificial light. (The ceiling lights provided only dim illumination inside their cage boxes, so they were probably in a chronic state of light deprivation, which probably increased their sensitivity to the weak environmental cues that Frank Brown had investigated, possibly microwaves that easily penetrated the lab walls.) During the winter, when they were infertile, I found that their thymus glands practically disappeared. The mechanism seemed to include the increase of pineal gland activity (probably increasing melatonin synthesis) in the winter, under the intensified activity of the “sympathetic nervous system” (with increased activity of adrenalin and other catecholamines), and the melatonin was apparently a signal for suppressing fertility during the stressful winter. In some animals (Shvareva and Nevretdinova, 1989), estrogen is increased during hibernation, contributing to the reduction of body temperature."

In 1994 A.V. Sirotkin found that melatonin inhibits progesterone production but stimulates estrogen production, and it’s widely recognized that melatonin generally inhibits the thyroid hormones, creating an environment in which fertilization, implantation, and development of the embryo are not possible. This combination of high estrogen with low progesterone and low thyroid decreases the resistance of the organism, predisposing it to seizures and excitotoxic damage, and causing the thymus gland to atrophy."

Almost any kind of stress increases the formation of melatonin."

True lol, but the real issue is the implication of smaller testes. This could mean lower endogenous testosterone production. But i did glance over the study, and I must say that their 3mg/kg dose, which is 1.5 mg assuming rats are half a kg, is much higher than that same dose given to a human. We are literally 100 times heavier and larger.

stress apparently increases melatonin, but does melatonin increase stress? I do not think so. Regardless, melatonin’s SERM like qualities most likely outweigh the estrogenic effects of the stress melatonin supposedly causes downstream.

does melatonin increase stress?
- lowers body temperature
- forms when the body is exposed to darkness
- doesn't actually promote sleep
- only signals darkness
- restricts blood flow to heart, brain and organs

Ik you have researched a lot about stress, so I will assume that you are correct. But my point still stands that melatonin itself inhibits estrogen. This effect likely outweighs the estrogenic effects of stress.

Or maybe like @189 said.. melatonin maybe a buildup AI like armidex and letrozole which BLOCKS E FOR A WHILE THEN CAUSES EXCESSIVE E PRODUCTION...
And only suicide AI is aromasin

Apparently, AIs prevents the “catalyzing the reaction that turns androstenedione and testosterone into estrone and estradiol.” In simple terms, it doesnt store estrogen somewhere it cant be used. Its just slowing down the conversion of T to E.
The buildup that you mention is just a buildup of testosterone waiting to be converted. When you stop taking the AI not all the stored T is converted to E immediately since it takes time. There might be a tiny spike after discontinuation since you have abnormally high t levels, but it shouldnt be significant.

@189 @extrachromosome 'n some others told that E RELEASE CAUSED BY BUILDUP OF ARMIDEX WHEN USED FOR 2 MONTHS ,IS ENOUGH TO CLOSE GROWTH PLATES IMMATURELY AND THAT E RELEASE IS SO HIGH THAT IT CAN MAKE U GAYY
