A hate crime just compounds the sex crime. But no. The police found evidence at his apartment that he'd been planning to rape white women as revenge against the anti Asian attacks or whatever. Sounds like they might have found a manifesto of sorts.

Can somebody explain to me the legal basis of a "hate crime", why should your motive have any hold in your verdict? Why is killing somebody because of their race somehow worse than killing somebody because of their shirt color? This whole concept makes no sense to me
