What’s not exaggerated is that the Nazis firebombed cities and massacred entire villages all over the Eastern Front, and a lot of Jews died that way. However this was more about German expansion and also anti-communism that became total war than a supposed genocidal intent towards Jews. Because again, the Nazis’ goal was to colonize Eastern Europe. And colonial wars are particularly brutal every time and everywhere. The Nazis as far as both planning/intent and brutality were very comparable to the US-UN coalition in Korea or some of the decolonial wars in Africa, both of which were immediately after WWII. But because of Eurocentrism, because the Nazis tried to do imperialism within Europe right in front of the UK and France and the Jews, they get exaggerated as some anomalous limitless evil. That’s where the exaggeration comes in.

And what else is exaggerated, and so absurd that it’s not even taught or discussed in most of the world, is that the Nazis killed millions of Jews in gas chambers (physically/materially impossible) or had some plan to kill every Jew in Europe or let alone the entire world (logistically impossible). There’s zero proof of any of this, zero photos of Jews being shoved into gas chambers, no physical trace of Treblinka or some of the other camps, no quotes from Hitler in which he was actually talking about killing Jews. Not even from the most mainstream of sources.

As far as Meds and Slavs, there were figures in Germany at the time who considered them inferior or whatever but not necessarily Hitler. Hitler was thinking statecraft and that meant thinking pragmatically, the Nazis’ alliances with the fascist states and proxies in Southern and Eastern Europe was much more real and much more important to them than any race ideal they supposedly had.
