i never claimed mse is for giving support to ur infras. clinically mse is used to treat narrow palates and airways. however, face mask treatment (using this face mask: https://forwardontics.com/products/bow) can bring ur maxilla forward if ur young enough (teenager). ur maxilla is connected to all ur bones, by bringing ti forward, u can give more support to ur infras. i split my suture without an mse so i just got a teeth borne expander along with the mask and my infra support has gotten better.

u can look at clinical trials, whenever ur trying to bring the maxilla forward, u need an mse with the face mask (as a place to anchor to the mask as well activate the sutures). il also link a paper referencing how a standalone face mask treatment can actually be detrimental compared to a treatment with an mse (or any transverse expansion):
