it pisses me off that a lot of for example christians, when i say i'm an atheist they ask prove then that the big bang happened, first of all if i'm an atheist it doesn't mean i believe in that, second of all you are the one who has to prove to me why god exists not me proving anything.
i go by logic, you have to prove a positive claim, not its absence.
a christian says: "god exists", he claims the existence of an object, so he has to provide evidence.
i say: "i don't believe in your god", i'm stating my skepticism towards his claim.
if this rule didn't work, you could claim whatever the fuck you wanted. for example: "an invisible pink unicorn is orbiting earth. don't believe it? prove it's not there", proving the absence of something elusive is impossible. that's exactly why whoever claims the existence of something, magic or unicorns, is obligated to justify it.
i repeat, an atheist doesn't have to be a physicist, cosmologist or even be interested in the origin of the universe.
