A lot of people say comparison is the thief of joy, and I used to believe that for a long time too. It wasn’t before tonight I realised that was wrong. All the problems stem from ambition.
“I want money, hoes and clothes”. This is a desire that comes from within and got nothing to do with the people around you. Men want validation, which is what they strive for. It just so happens that only few men ever truly gets validated with no fault of their own. If we are being truthful, who is longing for mediocrity? Nobody wants to hear a story about a guy going grocery shopping, we want to hear something extraordinary. It’s just human nature. Anyway…
The problem isn’t comparing yourself to others. The problem is thinking you had the same circumstances to achieve what the winners in life achieved.
Most men are genetic dead ends. It takes an incredible amount of cynicism and pessimism to be able to overcome the biological drive (ambition) to become the special one.
Life is like the casino. The house always wins. The system always wins. Very few people are able to cheat the house and come out on top. Few people might leave winning a bit of profit here and there, but in the long run the house always comes to collect. Life isn’t any different.
And the worst part? If you actually manage to cheat the house out of money it’ll just ban you. There is no salvage unfortunately.
