Ally isn't just a beefed up handheld. That people think it is it is basically a custom Windows PC in a very controlled envelope. Under the hood it's running a fully unlocked Windows kernel but Microsoft and Asus have smartly disabled unnecessary background services bloatware locked down telemetry, giving you near console level responsiveness and performance..

You also get things like dynamic resolution scaling, integrated Xbox Cloud streaming all without any overhead. The Steam Deck can be modded to do some of this but not all and it is unstable


Also unlike the Steam Deck which is Linux and uses Proton for compatibility. the Ally can run native Windows games and Game Pass titles directly without any translation layers. So no weird performance hits or weird input issues and direct performance and to support all that they have thrown in AMD Zen 4 + RDNA 3 legit getting desktop class performance in a handheld form factor.

This is a winning product. With good marketing and pricing this will mog hard. I tip my hat to the Xbox Asus and Microsoft team. Well played niggas.

Sounds pretty good, steam decks are extremely capable of most gaming, I've not seen much about the ally, depending on price tag I might look into it but I'm focusing on just getting a PC right now and I'll continue to emulate off my smart phone for the time being.

I have the 2023 win 4 with the Ryzen 7 but it broke sadly gpd win 5 mogs everything in performance but needs a detachable battery and is way more expensive and heavy with no detachable keyboard, unironically I think an aya neo might be the better option for the first time because they have another handheld with the same chip

Neither man. I only have a ps5 I'm an very casual gamer. But i can still appreciate the tech, engineering and the work that went into making this possible. Tech is one of my passions. It's what I love. There's a reason I'm an ITcel. I get excited by how systems are built, optimized, and tuned. Seeing a handheld that basically runs a full Windows stack but stripped down for performance with thermals, latency, and power management engineered to the last milliwatt hits all the right notes for someone who lives and breathes tech like me.

Nah the gpd win 4 and 5 aren’t laptops though the 4 is a ps vita esque handheld with a screen that can go up to reveal the keyboard

If you can wait until 2026. Intel is realising the highly awaited Panther Lake in early 2026. It's supposed to be their redeemer product after they lost a ton of market share to amd. If it's not good. Intel is a goner so intel is putting all the effort to make sure it is good.

Unironically a gaming laptop with a controller is probably more ergonomic than giant handhelds, Whereas the gpd win 4 is almost the same width as the Nintendo switch (I have both to compare) except it’s way fatter which is actually somewhat easier to hold

Of course If I want to run max settings on everything I would need at least $1200 but I'm smart with my money and won't just spend that recklessly.
I'm only security officer after all but if I obtain a second source of income than of course I would upgrade lol

Are you trying to push to hard in the settings?!
I've never had a PC so I plan to run most games I already know of and have played in the past. I do not know Alan wake and it might just be extremely strenuous on the PC in a graphical sense.
Once I build it I could let you know if I purchase that game and try to run it.
I'm into survival, fps, platforming, and free roaming games, and possibly mmos and fighting.
From what I know every game I'm into atm will run fine on my future PC.

Yeh it was like when I arrived in my city like 3-4 years ago and its good as well, really good CPU and has a low chance of bottlenecking for most games I've played and it clocks really high as well
