Why do i need to pay $100 and wait 8 weeks to get a birth certificate re issued? Countries like Chile do it for free and within a few days.

Government document systems are EXTREMELY outdated in the AUS. Same goes for documents in general. Everything's still done on paper and it's always a hassle, and different systems are very rarely connected.
