Not even in the tallest place on earth (dinaric alps) is it average. Your height perception is cooked. I'm 187cm and I probably height mog at least 85%, probably closer to 90% of college kids I see

In Germany, in university, the average is indeed more like 6'- 6’1, although you have to account for the fact that going there is actually voluntary to some degree.
Taller men are more outgoing.

It also depends on your field of study.

In economics, there are a lot more taller men, for instance, than in art school from my personal experience.

In school itself, the average was close to the actual statistical average. Going there wasn’t voluntary.

Also, people with higher socioeconomic status or even intelligence tend to be taller, as their development (as well as genes) usually were superior.

When just casually going out, the average is between 180-182 cm for young Germans, from my observation.
The self-reported average height from young Germans is 181.8cm.
