I mainly made the thread just to show how ambiguous the term white is. There is no clear-cut description that is unanimously agreed upon. This actually goes for a lot of race categorizations.

both black and white are ambiguous in that sense
black supposedly means every sub saharan african, but it doesnt make much sense
west africans are vastly different from khoi san ppl, from east africans and from nilotics
but you can clearly tell whites apart
the lines only start to get blurry if you consider west asians and south asians
the thing is that those groups are basically a mix of blacks and whites
arabs are a mix of caucasians, indo europeans, and the thing that makes them brown is admixture with africans from the horn of africa
with indians its the same, mixed with the aboriginals/onge of the indian subcontinent
so in the end you have blacks, whites and a mix of them

I view the term white as a synonim for European. Everyone on the map is a member of the Caucasoid race, but I’d make a distinction between Europeans and Middle Easterns, Central Asians.

And whites have further subcategories, I would say those are West European, Central European, Southern European (Meds) , North European and Eastern European (Slavs). They are a mix of genetic, cultural, historical and religious boundaries

rly the terms exist to recognize the ends of the spectrum
so you have way to differentiate between clearly white and clearly black people
its the same as regular old colors
what you classify as red or orange can get blurry, but at the end of the day red is most of the time clearly different from orange
