People will say this is cope, but I've seen it happen many times before. Especially for minimum wage/low wage jobs.

The skills/requirements for such job are so low that basically anyone that applies for it could do the job with 0 issues. There's no difference in who you are hiring, making lookism a very important factor in getting that job. You can't differentiate from the competing applicants meaningfully in any other way.
