a lot of times someone starts with tret on a clear skin ends up breaking out for months and eventually stops. has anyone done it on clear skin or is topical retinal/retinol good enough?

Of course. I have clear skin and use tretinoin nightly. Retinoids will all cause some dryness/flaking due to the MOA of them themselves and some purging can occur with it, but it isn't to stress about; it shows it's working, if anything.

i use it 1x a week sandwich method and a less than pea sized amount, will add up in a month or two tho. I feel like my skin will tolerate it well since i used to apply tea tree oil undiluted to my face years ago :lul:

That is super conservative. You will be fine doing that sandwich method E3D or EOD.

Up the dose of tret it is really only good for itโ€™s anti aging effects and gets brutally mogged by accutane

i will do that but after a month or two, i just recently repaired my skin barrier so trying to be super safe, will end up using everyday and upping to 0,05% eventually

I actually use Tazarotene instead of tret as my skin canโ€™t handle it otherwise

I'm on 0.1% ED. I have naturally sensitive/dry skin. Believe me, 1x a week sandwiched is not enough for your body to care. At least do it E3D to start with. By the time you're using it ED, it would've been a year+. You can get to ED usage comfortably within 3 months and that's conservative.

no need for accutane, i just want anti aging benefits and slight texture adjustments, also i hope it will aid for less razor bumps/ingrown hairs in the future

so if i haven't applied any retinoids on my face ever, how long should i wait to apply it 3x a week after starting since it's the strongest retinoid form?

i also need to get rid of my neck hair by the hairline, super annoying and sensitive to remove
