People don't cringe when they see someone's dad e.g. some 40 year old bro, trying to party like he's still 20 because of some supposed cultural expectation that you shouldn't act like that anymore. It just happens that their looks have deteriorated to such a catastrophic degree by that point that the mere idea of seeing them side by side with younger (and more beautiful) people is disgusting and creepy.

If physical aging weren't a thing, absolutely nobody would care how old you are. You'd be going to the bar and hooking up with babes at age 90, and no one would think anything of it.
