Bad nose and maxilla

I know that correcting a bad maxilla can correct a downturned or hooked nose but how exactly do I change the maxilla for it to do this? Can I just pull it forwards or protrude it instead of rotating it or would this make my nose look worse? Is rotating CCW a necessity?
