bass guitar in rock/metal music is fucking dumb

in every song, the bass is some unheardable mess. you barely hear it and even if you do, you cant really tell wtf the guy is playing cuz he is trying to play gutar parts on a different instrument. i dont get all these nerd playing 6 string fretless bass for a song that even the isolated bass lines sound like shit.

metal and rock dont need a bass. 90% of the basslines are just doubling the guitar and its stupid. now, go listen to jazz and funk where the bass is like 50% of the music and actually plays meanginful stuff speciically written for it. if a bassist plays something that can sound better on guitar then its better to not play it at all.

Alot of the times the guitar just overpowers the bass, so that alot of people don't even pay attention to what the bassist is doing. Really in most music genres there isn't enough "space" for many people to notice. Then again, these days electric guitar and rock is dying out completely.

exactly which id why bass is dumb in this genre. and i swea most metal bassists just do it to make a living

To be honest, most bass players are just there to get girls by being in the band. There's not alot of Cliff Burton's or Jaco's around to begin with.
