It just seems that the world is getting more black-pilled every decade. It used to be considered "soft", "weak" and "vain" for men to care about improving their appearance (and to a certain extent, putting effort into grooming and hygiene)
Nowadays, more and more men are taking care of their skin, hitting the gym, grooming their hair and body etc. This is highlighted by the growing popularity of men's grooming products like Manscaped, Hims, etc.
You can already see the next frontier of mainstream looksmaxxing products with the introduction and heavier marketing of shoes with natural built in lifts (Conzuri), men's makeup products like Stryx, and more.
Certain procedures like rhino, fillers, botox, implants are becoming quite popular too among men. The cosmetic surgery industry has been growing quickly over the past few years and is expected to grow almost 10% every year from 2022 to 2023. Invasive procedures are also becoming more popular alonside non-invasive procedures, showing that people are increasingly willing to go to further lengths to improve their appearance.
You also now have whole generations of kids growing up with easy access to social media and online dating who are getting black-pilled earlier than ever and blasting Aromasin, HGH, and steroids at young ages (this is still rare but more common nowadays)
TBH all of this is a reaction to women's tastes shifting towards pure looks as a result of their increasing financial independence and sexual liberation. I don't see this trend reversing and think soon men will have to put as much time and effort into their looks as women have throughout history.
I think this is bad because men should be out there building and inventing useful shit but instead will spend more time and effort looks-maxxing.
