Begging for a double jaw surgery

I'm going to the orthodontist in August, what are some ways I can convince the doctors I am im need of a double jaw surgery? I have a terrible underbite, eyebags, and smile lines.

rant about your structural problems and tell them you suffer from health effects because of them. this way, it becomes a functional issue which may be covered partly. im not from america tho so im not sure how it works there.

Tell them it hurts you when you open a lil wider your mouth and shit. I also am gonna get one, still on the process tho, the orthodontist appproves tho

I have reason to believe I do need it. My underbite is terrible.

Depending on how old you are, there is only so much braces will do for you if you have an underbite because you can't push the lower jaw backward or guide further growth of the upper jaw. The only thing an Orthodontist can do is :

1. Camouflage Orthodontics, which just disguises the problem if the underbite is not that bad. It will move teeth to give the illusion of a correct bite, but in terms of skeletal, you will still have an underbite. Also, this can lead to an eventual relapse and return of the underbite.

2. Paletal expanding, MSE, MARPE, etc. The orthodontist will attempt to expand the palette with MSE or a similar technique, which essentially splits your maxilla and skull and leads to new bone being grown, allowing the maxilla to achieve lateral growth, and SOME forward growth, but in a lot of cases, forward growth is minimal and can sometimes be temporary (bone reforms to the old position, despite horizontal growth being mostly permanent). This is a good option if your breathing/airway is messed up. And if your airway is too small, you will need this before you even get any type of jaw surgery.

2. Recommend you to a surgeon. You will most likely need a surgeon, but the braces/MSE(if you get it)will fix your bite in preparation for the surgery. A good surgeon will have to bring forward the maxilla, and depending on the mandible length, will either leave it alone or have some movements done upward or downward, all depending on your case.


I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU VISIT AN AIRWAY ORTHODONTIST, AND NOT A TRADITIONAL ONE THAT IS ONLY GOOD FOR FIXING CROOKED TEETH.

Bite alignment issues are way too complex for the average orthodontist, and most orthodontists resort to camouflage orthodontics because they lack knowledge and care for the much better techniques. Some techniques of camouflage orthodontics are retractive and extractive orthodontics, which everyone should avoid, unless you have a very unique issue.
