to be alive right now as human, or even as any organism on earth is just... so unfathomably rare

your existence is the result of an unbroken genetic chain stretching back billions of years. EVERY single organism in that line had to survive and successfully reproduce.

If even one of them had failed if one fish hadn’t escaped a predator, if one mammal starved, if one ancestor hadn’t met their mate...you would not be reading this right now and i would not be typing it

insane honestly. but thats why you should be grateful for your life. be grateful that you're also a human (apex predator) and be grateful that your life is comparatively comfortable compared to most things that have ever lived

be grateful that you live in this extraordinarily small sliver of time where we can sit on our ass rotting on our computers with no predators or things threatening our life completely 100% comfortably
