When retreating soliders walked into their OWN MINES, imagine the retardation and lack of communication.

Sometimes groups were left at the front line not knowing that the rest of the army has already retreated.

The whole war has been a huge shit show for the most part, and the individual soldier isnt valued whatsoever.

Yeah, these are logistics issues, the strategies account for the logistics being fully operational, which they weren't due to varying reasons (soldiers' inexperience, corruption which led to poor equipment maintenance, etc)

Russia has a long way to go when it comes to military paradigms, still, but it's not like they went in blindfolded either and just went 'ooga booga meatgrinder war' mode. things just worked out horribly for them is all (largely due to their own shortcomings, also, admittedly)

You will always lose men, that is inevitable but serves a good purpose whcih is skewing the gender ratio in favor of men.

Ideally with a Blitzkrieg like the germans did at the beginning of ww2. Which relies on superior technology, strong morale and a good strategy. They lost wayless men than their opponents, even though they were the attackers.
