when you fail on your own terms you're left only with having to live vicariously through someone else
for most people that's usually kids but if age allows it, wouldn't you also go up the genealogy tree?
siblings almost naturally imply a sort of rivalry that kinda makes me you think, “they have what I don't,” whereas with parents you'd only be like, “I guess I just needed more time in the oven”
mine died early relatively to me... substance abuse, I think? he had other families too and yet he has disappeared without a trace so I'm 45% sure that he was a major loser
