I gotta say without religion most of us wouldn't even get the chance to live, and avg life expectancy will get down to 20 or smth. Society would most likely collapse entirely.
This is what Nietzsche saw when he said "God is dead". It's not suppose to be a joyful proclamation, but a sad realization of how religion held up everything.
