IQ shouldn't be taken too seriously but even if it's not inflated, 122 is not too far away from average. It's actually pretty average amongst university students. The problems happen when you're several standard deviations away from average, then there's a misalignment in cognitive abilities from an early age. You're as intelligent as much older kids but not mature or tall enough to fit in with them. You find kids your age dimwitted but they are emotionally on par with you (sometimes even more emotionally mature because high intelligence can cause delays in other areas).

I understand that you were describing the experience of highly gifted people. However, I think we both know that IQ does matter, and shouldnt be taken seriously only in relation to it being immutable.
