I think he's describing most of the general population, we see how the ratings go on subreddits where sub5 is getting 9... Guys especially are prone to this bullshit when being fat is normalized and everybody look like shit.

My personal take is: I heavily underestimated how GL I was for years and lose chances to slay many times -> then I was overestimating when I became somewhat FAT and I was no longer carried (cringe) -> now I try to be reasonable, and watch at 'context' too
