belief in anything really, not just god or religion

belief is a state, not a choice, usually arising from when you are convinced of something’s truthfulness

if someone held a gun to my family’s head and asked me to believe the sky is green and not blue there is no way i could make this choice

ofc i can choose to pretend to believe but I could not choose to have this belief

Beliefs aren't a light switch, but people still cultivate and reinforce beliefs all the time out of cope/choice
