There is no answer to the fermi paradox because we simply lack enough knowledge to say anything.

Also the universe is practically infinite in size, so it doesn't matter how rare earth like planets are, there are others.

All we know is that they're not in our backyard.

Aliens are (probably) real in that simple, complex, and maybe intelligent life exists in the universe but things like interplanetary/interstar civilizations probably aren’t real due to things like the great filter and the vastness of space.
