I am not entirely sure why it is either from lack of somatostatin due to not eating which inhibits GH or to compensate for low igf-1 from not eating.

i read somewhere when ur gut produces ghrelin due to hunger it simultaneously produces hgh

Probably Autophagy (recycling of old cells) is the only benefit I see worth it for fasting.

is there a risk of losing muscle, i heard someone say they worked out everyday and gained muscle but lost water weight and fat

Assuming you are talking about intermittent fasting than not for prolonged fasting there is a high probability of losing muscle.

yes but if there’s hgh being produced due to fasting then wouldn’t there be an increase in muscle due to higher growth hormone production

Water fasting has no real health benefits despite what some chuds say on youtube. Especially if you are growing. It ruins your muscle mass, fucks up your electrolytes, etc.

If you want to lose weight it's just a small caloric deficit. Stop being extreme.
