I looked at this a bit but it's more descriptive than prescriptive. It talks a lot about what ratios are normal for a given race/population and is useful for learning terminology, but except for a couple sections it avoids diving deep into what should be considered beautiful and ideal.

I'm looking for a more strongly opinionated resource on facial beauty. (My guess is such a book would be very controversial and therefore either doesn't exist or will be extremely hard to track down).

You're a pseudo once you believe certain ratios are ideal. Understanding how everything works together is key. Absolute idiots are the type to be "umm midface is 0.98, TOO LOW" etc, that is they can't understand anything so they just base it off numbers.
