The tallest countries are from northern and eastern europe, but for Russia the numbers aren't that big. Therefore it's best for us short meds to avoid those if possible:

Ukraine is poor but a bit taller than these countries even, they are really tall for a 3rd world place. So I assume that throughout Russia there is a huge difference, so in richer places like Moscow and St. Petersburg it might be a bit higher than 176 while in the middle of Siberia lower.
