What is the best exercise for strong abominable muscles.

My upper back muscles have grown so large and it's difficult to breathe.

I recently started to flex my abs when walking and it's helps a lot.

I have been lifting for many years but almost never do abs and I think it's catching up.

bouldering

but if that's too much investment, probably ab wheel progression to standing ab wheel, dragon flags, and hanging leg raise variations until you can do them like this:

then microload with weights

Here's an EMG activation chart for certain ab exercises.

Most effective for upper abdominals - Crunches
Most effective for lower abdominals - Hanging Leg Raises
Most effective for Obliques - Side bends

Abs are muscles so do crunches with weight.

Hanging leg raises and dragon flag.

Underrated response.
Are you a kinesiologist?

Side bends is literally the goofiest shit you can do for your obliques. It only makes them pop laterally which is exactly what we don't want because it destroys the shoulder to waist ratio.

Oblique muscles run diagonally so they should be trained by twisting - like Russian Twist and NEVER with weight or they will get bulky.

Don't come to me with EMG activation. I am a scientist myself but I NEVER skip INTUITION to see if science is iffy or not.

weighted hanging leg raises, anything else is cope

An ab wheel is only like $20 and works your core pretty well
