The side step? What do you mean by that?

A notch in the jawline. IT is less visible because he is high BF but my autistic edition mark 1 optics can see it instantly and if he were leaner it would be more apparent. However most of the time though the notch apparently disappears on its own.

Only with genio or implant as well?

I will be getting genio after I finish my rapid palatal expansion treatment.

My surgeon said that I will not have a notch, because they will use biomaterials to smoothen it out.

Will post results for your Mk 1 autism optics.

A well placed implant shouldn't make a notch, because you're not really making any cuts(steps) in the bone.
Unless the implant is botched, it shouldn't be obviously unnatural.

I’ve seen very few notches tbh
I’ll be going full steam ahead with my genio but you’ve made me nervous ngl man.
I hope I made the right choice opting for genio over implant, even though my recession is not severe and could easily be remedied by an implant.

Same here, my recession is not that bad(around 5mm for chin), in my pic, you can see how I have my arm in front of my chin lmao.

Generally, genio and bone movement is better, because it is permanent and more potential advancement, you definitely made the right choice, if you want more, implants are still an option after genio.

The question is wether you made the right choice for the surgeon, have you seen their results, are you confident in his skill?
Your surgeon is the biggest factor for the quality, safety and end results for genio.

Yeh the surgeon is one that actually prefers to do genio I think which is a good sign. Most prefer to shove an implant in your face and be done with it.
What was your reasoning for not wanting implant even though with implant you can widen the chin, genio you can lengthen and project only.

Same with my surgeon, he strongly prefers genio over implants, also they use/participate in research on biomaterials, using them, you can smoothen out the step and (somewhat) contour the chin.

But you can also widen the chin, 2d sliding genio can only project/lengthen, you can also cut the bone/do grafts/use different kinds of metal plates/screws to widen/reshape the chin, but that would be a more invasive/harder operation.

My surgeon expressed that he would also want to slightly widen my chin, but how exactly he wants to do that, i don't know. I will figure out the details in my next consultation, currently me and the surgeon are more focused on my rapid palatal expansion/marpe/sarpe which will happen in mid july. Will do genio after that, so we can plan it for my new face proportions/bite.

My reasoning is the (relatively) cheap price and in my area genioplasty is the best option, since they are doctors which work in/with a nearby uni/medschool and I like the experience those surgeons have.

If i want something more, i can get implants later, but imo genioplasty first is the best option unless you need bimax.

You must be getting a massive advancement if that is a problem. Normally you only do that with movements like 10m++. What movements you getting. Wishing you luck.

My jaws are projected enough, just my upper jaw is narrow and chin is downgrown.

We haven't talked about all the details yet since we're focusing on my marpe procedure rn, but from looking at my face and a quick check on my CT scan, he said I would need around 5mm movememt and a little bit of widening.
He seems blackpilled, so I trust him.

But In the end It is gonna be up to me. They will make morphs with 5mm, 8mm and more advancement and I can choose which one I like the best.
