Best gun for hunting

I'm fucking tired of invasive nutria taking out my Cali fishing spots so I'm looking into arming myself with anything but a handgun (My Glock sucks). The budget is only around $15,000 because I bought a thermal scope, a set of white phosphorous gen 3's, and a bunch of tannerite charges.

What kind of round are you thinking? .22 probably would be good. I have a 10/22 and it's a good rifle. Never hunted anything with it but heard they're used a lot for squirrels and rabbits

I was thinking more in the range of .220 SWIFT but I will be sure to test a 10/22 as it would be budget-friendly. Appreciate the help.
