With my recent thread on the benefits of nicotine I was obviously asked what the best method was to take it (thus running into the least possible illnesses/problems) . So I analyzed four main methods
1) Cigarettes
2) Vaping
3) Snus
4) Nicotine patches/gum (NRT)
Only the negative aspects, impact on society, and cost, have been analyzed! YOU CAN FIND THE BENEFITS OF NICOTINE IN MY FIRST THREAD!
1) Our beloved cigarettes
My fav cigarettes
Health problems: according to this study tobacco is the cause of 25% of cancer deaths and more than 50% of lung, esophageal, etc. cancers (always given a high dose). Therefore, 1 in 4 cancers is caused by cigarettes.
Impact on society: Even though smoking has become rarer than it was twenty years ago, it has remained a fairly widespread behavior and has been proven to be a key to starting conversations/friendships between smokers. Definitely an "aurafarm" method in the eyes of some
Cost: Cigarette prices have recently increased, and a pack now ranges between 5 and 7 euros, bringing many smokers' annual spending to more than 2,000 euros. Nothing too expensive, in my opinion.
2) Vapes
I don't vape and that's the reason:
Health problems: Vapes have always been considered a safer alternative to cigarettes but in reality they are even worse... Vapes are much more addictive than cigarettes because they reach a much younger audience, decrease concentration, testosterone, cause depression, decrease bone density and highly inflame the body.
Impact on society: Vapes are viewed poorly by both non-smokers and cigarette smokers because they see vapes as something for sissies and gays.
Cost: If we really want to find a positive side to vapes it is that they cost on average between 10 and 50 euros and are designed to last a long time leading to not spending so much annually (1.5k max)
3) Snus
Health problems: The most common and significant problem with snus is receding gums and poor dental hygiene. However, to be honest, this is easily avoidable if you don't use snus with a high nicotine dose more than three or four times a day. I started using snus a year and a half ago, and according to the dentists I've visited, my gums aren't experiencing any problems.
Impact on society: Snus is not a very widespread phenomenon in the world so people often don't even know what you're putting in your mouth and don't care at all.
Cost: Snus are usually very cheap, ranging from 3 to 6 euros. It's not a problem for your wallet.
4) Nicotine patches/gum (NRT)
Health problems: NRT carries fewer risks than all nicotine sources, leading only to mild and rare problems such as headaches, insomnia and dry mouth, although it can be highly addictive.
Impact on society: NRT is a way to quit smoking, it helps society greatly and is seen well especially by non-smokers.
Cost: NRT is a therapy to stop smoking so it does not have a precise price, it could cost you less annually than smoking cigarettes or it could cost more.
That's it! Bye <3
