People will give you compliments, you will hear people describe you as "attractive", you will catch people staring when you're in public, you will see the type of reaction you get when you're meeting a girl the first time.
I've also noticed older women (those who are far too old to really think they have a chance with you) tend to often be really direct about giving compliments - which is something young women, especially attractive ones, rarely do without ulterior motives.
