My hands are turning fucking orange and my skin is developing a nice tan

high dose is the key 100-200k ius a day for results, and taken with a fat so a drink it with a cup of whole milk.

and also lycopene helps.

this isn’t true tanning and 100–200k IU/day is dangerously excessive. Studies show increased lung cancer risk in smokers and potential liver toxicity at such doses, watch yourself buddy(y)

No liver toxicity cause not a lot of it gets converted into actual retinol, the side effects of this high dose is well tanner skin.

it still accumulates in tissues affects retinoid signaling, and leads to carotenemia which is pigment buildup, not tanning. The claim that "tanner skin is the only side effect" is factually incorrect:no:

It’s barely any compared to something like accutane which is miles stronger, stop fearing mongering you soy.

which is harmless btw
U are comparing therapeutic isotretinoin to uncontrolled megadoses of beta carotene.Thats not an argument Also: "stronger drug exists’ ≠ ‘this one is safe". Try logic next time.

“vitamin A toxicity (hypervitaminosis A) is primarily associated with preformed vitamin A (retinol and retinyl esters), found in animal sources like liver, fish oil, and supplements, rather than beta-carotene, a provitamin A carotenoid from plants. Beta-carotene is converted to vitamin A in the body as needed, and this conversion is regulated, making toxicity from beta-carotene alone rare.”

ur. a. Fucking. retard.

Chronic megadoses can still disrupt retinoid signaling, accumulate in tissues, and cause physiological dysfunction. "Regulated conversion" doesnt protect you from non retinol mediated toxicity

“Vitamin A toxicity (hypervitaminosis A) from 100,000–200,000 IU (60–120 mg) of beta-carotene is extremely rare because beta-carotene, a provitamin A, is converted to vitamin A (retinol) in the body only as needed, with tight regulatory control. ”

also jfl at “increasing lung cancer in smokers” acting like I smoke at all.

ur a retard, again.

Is beta carotene useful for someone dark skinned?

I don’t think it’s necessary, well maybe you might get a subtle glow.

people of darker color tend to have better skin though

1.No one said you smoke lung cancer in smokers was cited because that’s where toxicity was clinically proven. It demonstrates that beta carotene is not biologically inert and can be pro oxidative at high doses

2.Yes, conversion to retinol is regulated. But beta-carotene doesn’t just vanish it accumulates in tissue, alters redox balance, and affects cellular signaling. "Rare toxicity" doesn’t mean "safe for megadosing"

3.If you actually understood this topic, you do know the difference between acute hypervitaminosis and long term biochemical dysregulation

Yeah it doesn’t just “vanish” the rest gets accumulated into ur skin and makes u darker, which is the entire fucking point of taking it u retard.

Yes it accumulates in the skin, that’s precisely the issue. What you call "getting darker" is not tanning, it’s carotenemia visible pigment deposition due to overload, not melanin production or healthy adaptation.

Carotenemia is a symptom of storage saturation not a therapeutic outcome. It's like saying "my skin turned yellow, so jaundice must be working." JFL

U confuse a visible effect with a positive one.
Bioaccumulation ≠ benefit.

If you push beyond regulated uptake, the body stores the excess skin, liver, fat, and eventually you disrupt retinoid signaling. U are not optimizing your biology anywhere

and guess what, it’s completely harmless, Google is free.

“Carotenemia is generally considered harmless and reversible. It’s a condition where the skin turns yellowish-orange due to high levels of beta-carotene in the blood, often from excessive consumption of beta-carotene-rich foods (e.g., carrots, sweet potatoes) or supplements, such as 100,000–200,000 IU (60–120 mg)”

Google is free

once acne clears up i might start taking it ngl
It literally helps acne, some of that beta carotene is gonna get converted into retinol Which helps collagen and acne.

that doesn't make it harmless. It's a visible biomarker of systemic overload

Accumulation in the skin means storage saturation is occurring elsewhere too in liver, fat, and potentially affecting retinoid signaling

"Google is free" only works if you read past the first line. Try PubMed not google

See, no argument cause you know I’m right.
I just don’t argue with people who confuse unregulated accumulation with optimization thats why be careful
