better lower third

realized I have a narrow lower third at 16 even though both my parents have wide jaws, it was prob cause of mouth breathing in my sleep and I've been trying to fix it

recently I visited my ortho, and I have pretty straight teeth genetically, he said he could give me braces and an expander if I wanted to widen my smile for 7k. I mainly want the expander to widen my jaw but he said it's an unlikely chance it will widen my jaw. should i risk it and get the palate expander? i have a horse face rn and a wider jaw would help so much i feel. dm me if you want pics

An expander doesnt widen your jaw, it only widens your dental arch and rarely, very rarely widens your cheekbones. Wide jaws are mainly because of gonial flare

It won't widen your mandible let's be honest, depending on how old you are it can widen your maxilia and midface but with a dumb palatal expander it has high chance of not working, for that price you can get biobloc stage 1 which is fucking amazing in young patient but don't loose ur money like this
