My (33F) BF (32M) were getting intimate and BF lost his erection. After saying this never happened before and was all flustered he walked off to the bathroom. I realize these things happen so I'm still in bed naked trying to think of what to say to make him feel better about the situation. When he came back he said "babe you really need to lose some weight" basically implying I've gotten too fat for him to hold an erection. I won't lie I started bawling, I have some body insecurities that he's very aware of. He then backtracked and started saying it was something else, I'm fairly sure it was to just calm me down. I have gained about 20 lbs since the start of the relationship (about 1 1/2 years now).
We've had long talks about it and we've set up gym days and workout plans. But everyday I go I simply get angry. Im not motivated to workout, I could stand to lose some weight but it feels like Im rewarding him for saying something so horrible while I was so vulnerable. Even intimacy is difficult for me now, I can't help but remember what he said so my confidence in myself while naked is at an all time low.
He keeps reassuring me that he loves me and that he didn't mean it but I just can't get it out of my head. How does someone who says they love you say that to you? Has anyone had any experience with this? Did he say it to deflect his embarrassment at his lost erection?
TLDR: My boyfriend lost his erection during sex, blames my weight gain. Is he deflecting because of embarrassment?
