Let's be fair tho, life in Soviet Union was absolute misery for most people.
No it wasn't jfl, there were zero homeless people, not a single person was starving, not a single person was addicted to opioids, not a single rich corrupt mafia oligarchy etc. Caloric consumption was higher then in the west, every single family was given an apartment, car, enough money for everyone in the country to go on yearly vacations etc. I know this cause my parents lived in a socialist country and people were much better and friendly, capitalism ruins people and makes them evil and selfish
Russia is a better place to live in the all of Africa almost and most of South America, it's not that bad actually except the cities in Siberia
There were 0 homeless people, but most families in the city had to share a apartment with other families and they even lacked toilets. Usually just had some kind of a hole in the floor. Even in the countryside families usually lived together in some cabin, absolutely 0 privacy. It took ages to get a car. Like young family would wait 10+ years for a car. Of course you could cut the line if you were related to someone who had influence in the party, among other things like speedlane to a spacious apartment. Caloric consumption was not for sure higher than in the west, CIA concluded that the Soviets ate slightly more nutritious food than Americans, but way less meat for example. The Soviet diet mostly was made up of potatoes, vegetables and bread.
