i don’t know whats gymbros obsession with calves but it look so ugly jfl also it serves no purpose having big calves since you wont get faster or jump higher.

bro to me small calves don’t even look bad tbh it’s when your calves are big that it kinda looks disgusting it reminds me of my fat brother with huge calves i associate it with being bulky and unathletic.

In terms of genetics if you want to know the truth, it is evolutionarily better to have bigger calves. They have a more dominant Soleus muscles than Gastrocnemius muscles
Soleus have higher concentration of slow-twitch or Type I muscle fibres, which are better for endurance tasks + resistance to fatigue… compared to Gastrocnemius that has higher Type II muscle fibres, for explosivity or power but fatigue quickly



Evolutionarily, we can never run fast enough to be compared to other animals (our prey or predators) for fast twitch to be ideal (/we become dependent on it).
