Most inmates don't live like that, prisons usually don't even have actual toilets, they shit and piss in a bucket that they can empty every morning during breakfast hours. Our prisons are nothing compared to Russias, but they're definitely not some rest homes. I guess that guy was just a well-behaved inmate, and got transfer there.

In Norway, the prisons are like hotels and the maximum sentence for any crime is 21 years, but they have an extremely low rate of repeat offenses, so I guess it works
