Bike stolen, need advice

I locked it in my front yard as I was too tired to bring it out back and some faggot came, cut the lock and took off on it. It's extremely expensive for a bike and I use it to venture with my mates and shit. I checked security cams and saw his face but my mom doesn't know about this so I feel like I have two options. What would you do?

1. Hunt and find the rat, beat him to a pulp, break one of his hands and retrieve my carbon fibre mog-cycle.

or

2. Tell my mom and get the local council to put a watch in attempts to retrieve it, get the police involved, etc, the faggot way, etc.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated!
