Just wanted to share my results. I'm a 24 years old male. Not really into this "looksmaxxing stuff" (In the sense that it's my first time using this forum, but I've obviously always wanted to look better)

IMG 1649
IMG 1641

Very conservative movements and I still have alot of inflammation from the surgery. It takes 1-2 years to get totally rid of it and I'm currently 4 months post operation.

I feel like some of the damage of having been recessed throughout 23 years of my life can't really be corrected with lefort 1 and a bsso. I'm considering an implant around my gonion because my ramus is very tiny, the reason I believe being that I have pretty much never been able to chew. crazy thing to say but I'm currently learning how to eat lol, I used to swallow food/mash it into my palate using my tongue. I might also need a peri/infra-orbital implant but I can't tell yet

What do we think?

Side note : I posted this thread in the cosmetic surgery section because one reason I wanted a bimax was to improve my appearance, but it’s also for functional reasons

It looks better

But they their movements wasnt crazy innit?

Do you have exact numbers of the movements they did

Yeah, 3 mm of maxillary advancement and 8 mm for the mandible
Also a sliding genio but it barely gave me any projection because it was mainly slid to the left because my chin was asymmetrical if that makes sense

Thank you and yeah, my sleep is way better but not perfect. I think I'm still within the "recessed range" from a functional point of view.

And I'm not indian bro lmao

I know you are not indian lol , I just got used to word

I don't think you are recessed anymore , you have good projection like an average side profile

Oh okay no issues lmao. And thank you, that's all I need.

@Mainlander You asked for my movements and you seem to be experienced on the matter, I'm just curious, would you have went with stronger movements ?

You might need a revision then bro. If you do bimax for sleep disordered breathing 3mm A point advancement is nothing.

Do you have a scan? You know what your nasal aperture is? How is your nasal breathing?

Good result, even tho the genio was a bit underadvanced

I'm kind of stupid and didn't do much research before having my consultations and I just assumed that sleep apnea was guaranteed to be corrected so when I was talking with my surgeon I was more so focused on the aesthetic outcome and I asked for the most conservative movements possible that would give me a decent appearance

I don't have a scan of my airways but I'm getting one in 2 months. Since I've had the surgery I noticed that my breathing got better and I don't have an overbite anymore so I can finally sleep with my mouth closed, but I still wake up multiple times during the night and on rare occasions I catch myself breathing through my mouth. But it might not be sleep apnea, I could just be paranoid, I'm gonna book an appointment in a sleep clinic soon so I can have a definite answer and if I happen to need a revision it sucks but I'll go with it, I can only blame myself for it

Thanks bro, do you think (appearance-wise) that a chin implant would do the job to attain ideal projection or did I really need more advancement with specifically a genio ?

personally i want my own bone to be advanced like a genio. obv you can go for a chin implant, i just heard some stories about it and i think genios better. maybe you can do another genio if your bone is healed combined with implants to maximize your lower third

Yeah I would also rather have it be my own bone but the way I'm imagining it (and maybe I'm wrong) the more your chin is getting advanced from a sliding genio the more you lose lower-third length

Are you getting a bimax surgery too or just a genioplasty? If it's the latter why would you risk nerve damage when you can just get an implant risk-free ?

Its going to be a rough war because sleep studies are inaccurate and sleep docs are old boomers that do not really believe in SDB in young people.

r/uarsnew r/sleepapnea are going to help you. Good luck 🤞

Thanks bro, I'll be looking into them

If you are going to get any more surgeries I would do a genioplasty or a revision djs if you still have sleep apnea. This would serve you better than jaw implants.

I'm not sure I can get another genio considering how my chin has been moved I'll have to ask my surgeon. As for the revision djs I don't know if I'll be covered by my insurance again so it might need to wait 2 years or so. But if I end up not having sleep apnea, what's the downside of implants ? Quicker recovery, no nerve damage, no puffiness and looks better or am I mistaken ?

How many mm was the first genio

I don't know, I'm not sure I even got any overall advancement. What I was told is they'll perform some sort of anti-clockwise (if you're looking at me from the front, not the side) rotation to bring up the left side of my chin and make it match the right side that had more projection. I have trouble imagining what it actually looks like I'm waiting to get my xrays, but the way I see it I'm not sure you can just slide up my chin again

Okay the only worry would be if it were advanced significantly then advancing it any more may cause the mentolabial fold to become to deep and/or the jaw to look too banana. Seeing as that's not the case it may be advisable. But without seeing more photos and scans I also can't tell for sure especially on the banana jaw issue since your gonial angle seems high (but the photo is bad so again I cant tell for sure). There may be reason why the surgeon didn't want to advance it very much but I don't know.

I generally prefer genio to chin implants since it is easier to get a natural contour.

There is a possibility you can get another genio with smaller movements to avoid any significant damage. If not, like you said you can always get chin implants.

What's a banana jaw ? Could you link a picture please I can't find anything about it on the internet. And yes the angle of my jaw is very obtuse and my ramus is super short I'll send a picture with different lighting if you want but it's really hard to tell because of the inflammation

Yeah I forgot to mention but I already have some nerve damage on the left side of my face, some spots that hurt a little bit and that I still can't feel when I touch them. If it never recovers I'll have to stick to implants I imagine

Good stuff man, you definitely look a whole lot better.

Thanks bro I appreciate it

Too much projection while having high gonial angle makes jaw look banana

And by the way, I'm only exploring my options in case I end up wanting enhancements. In terms of aesthetics only, I'm satisfied atm with having average / slightly below average jaw area

You would solve that with jaw implants

Without more pics I cant give more exacting advice
okay thanks. I'll post different pictures later I'll tag you if you don't mind

Great results man

Looks good i would say get a genio around 7-9mm

thanks bro

Thank you, but isn't that excessive? How much advancement do people usually get
I wouldnt say so. Ur lips come out quite a bit which is a good thing but u need adequate chin projection along with that
