I have a scheduled surgery due to a recessed maxilla. Below are some key findings from my report:
Diagnosis: K07.2 – Anomalies in the relationship of dental arches
I have an upcoming consultation with my surgeon and would appreciate guidance on aesthetic considerations I should discuss. Specifically, I am wondering if it would be possible or advisable to perform downgrafts to improve the incisor display, since currently only 4 mm of my upper incisors show when smiling actively.
Are there other aesthetic or functional issues related to my condition that I should address with the surgeon? Any advice on questions or concerns to raise would be very helpful.
- Nasolabial angle greater than 90°, indicating reduced upper lip support
- Upper lip positioned 7 mm behind the E-line, while the lower lip is on the E-line (0 mm)
- Concave facial profile with mild clockwise rotation of the mandible
- No incisor display at rest and only 4 mm incisor display during an active smile
- Thin infraorbital and paranasal areas
- No facial asymmetry, good oral health, full dentition (teeth 7 to 7)
- Diastema of 2.5 mm and mild crowding
- Functional bite with a slight anterior crossbite, 4 mm horizontal overbite, and 2 mm vertical overbite
- Normal jaw joints and muscle function
