Biting on a mouthguard?

Can you get tmj/bruxism from biting down a mouthguard> Yesterday i did it as i'm doing combat sports and i have one but i never bite down hard on it while sparring. I tried biting down it hard and jesus my masseters ached like hell.

Is it useless? Can it looksmax you in any way (masseters size, upswing from constant pressure applied by the bottom teeth to the upper teeth?)

no it can be more harmful than anything

i have a custom mouthguard from my ortho and i dont really need to bite down on it too much
